After six weeks of eating on the left side of my mouth due to a temporary crown, I went back to the dentist today. After nixing numbing to take off the temporary tooth(which I will NEVER deny again), it came time to put the gold crown on. Only problem was, the tooth was so sensitive from removing the temporary crown that when she put the permanent one on, it caused a bit of pain (the kind of pain one experiences when transitioning in labor). The crown flipped out of her hand and down my throat. I jumped off the chair and gagged up the crown, looking back to see two horrified dental techs staring at me. After a bit of calming, we proceeded.
I got a Maggie Moo’s gift certificate out of the deal. Wish it was a couple hundred dollars seeing that my new tooth can’t take any extremes in temperature. Gone are my days of ice cream!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
Oh my, gagging up a crown- yikes! That doesn’t sound good. I’m glad it’s finally secure.
