It’s 5:30 am. I’ve been up for a while now. In two short hours, I will begin the Pikes Peak Ascent. This is the race that I’ve been training for all summer.
Currently it is pouring rain and high of 48. I have a feeling that there will be at least a few inches of snow at the top.
I’m ready. I’m nervous. I have that prerace stomach that says, “have you trained enough? Are you sure you want to run 13.62 miles up a mountain?”
I’m looking forward to posting a picture of my finisher medal and shirt this afternoon. I’m crossing my fingers that the lightening doesn’t start until 2 pm as predicted and that all the runners can cross that finish line. If I’m really ambitious, I might take a few pictures on the way. We’ll see!

I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
You’re watching the race tonight, right!?!?!
