The day began normally, until 5 minutes after waking up I spilled my coffee, “lost” my cozy slippers and found out that there was a mess in the kitchen that needed cleaning…from the night before.
It just went from bad to worse…
So, I dug out my Bible while Tobin was busy singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with his Kindermusik class (I was holed up in my car.)
I came across this verse:
Psalm 4:5
Offer right sacrifices
and trust in the LORD.
So I changed what I was offering. Instead of frustration over my day, fatigue about the throat that won’t stop hurting, anxiety over how I could get everything done….I decided to instead…
Offer my sacrifice of time…with my son today, playing and reading. My offering of rest, making sure that I took some and did so for my own health’s sake.
It’s amazing how just a simple mind change can make all the difference in a day!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
what a great reminder of how we can refocus our days.
