Irrational Fear and 6 months

We try not to laugh.  We do love our baby girl very much. BUT….

She has this terrified reaction to any cow, anything that moos.  It began a few weeks ago when I pulled out this delightful book that makes animal noises.  When we pushed the button for the cow to make a sound, she screamed in terror.

I have to admit that we thought it was funny at first. Such a crazy reaction to a little sound. BUT…as the time marches on and I see her reaction to the Chik fil A cow and other cow like pictures and sounds, I’ve wondered something.

Were there cows around her when she was left at that church those many months ago?

PS.  6 MONTHS ago today, we saw our baby girl for the first time. We have officially had her longer than she was in the orphanage!  She’s come a long way!

I guess there are worse things for her to be afraid of… And congrats on the milestone!!!

Isaiah and Laila were like that around ANY animal for several months. The really funny part for Laila was that it was especially black and white animals like cows, killer whales, cats, dogs, etc. We had this one whale bath toy and that chick would fly out of the tub if it was in there. Now, fortunately they have had enough good experiences that the fear is gone. She even calls cows EIEIO (from Old McDonald song) and loves to go to Chick-fil-a!!

How bizarre! Eli LOVES all animal noises, but especially cows! It sounds adorable, but, yeah, these little nuances make you wonder…

    Miss you all!

One of the hardest things with young children that are adopted are the unkowns in thier past. Praying for your precious Desta, that she would be filled with peace and security.
    Hugs and prayers,
    Debi
