It’s a very quiet morning around here. The sun hasn’t arrived yet, my coffee has just been poured and I have a moment to myself.
In this moment I am thinking of tomorrow. Tomorrow Desta officially becomes a USA citizen. Her name is officially changed to ours. I will be no longer listed on her birth certificate as “adoptive mother.” I’ll just be “mother.”
We brought Desta home almost 7 months ago. We’ve had social work visits, filled out monthly updates for our agencies (yes, we have 2, not just one), sent in documentation needed.
FINALLY tomorrow, we will stand before the judge and he will declare her OURS.
And I am beyond thrilled, happy and filled with JOY that this day is coming. Tomorrow!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
It is such a wonderful feeling when the judge says he approves the petition and you know that she is yours in every sense of the word. Praying that Desta won’t be grumpy since court is interfering with her naptime. Can’t wait to see pics!
Woo hoo! Are you going north or south? The north one is so nice, clean and quick. We were the only ones there that day!
Since we didn’t go to court in Africa, it was so nice to be a part of a legal proceeding where we took an oath and Isaiah and Laila were declared legally ours!! I hope tomorrow is a special day for your family.
Rejoicing with you on this special day.
Hugs and prayers,
Debi
Congratulations!! Enjoy this day!
