Matt and I were saying last night that whenever we stop and really think about the fact that we are going to be in Ethiopia in less than a week our stomach do a lurch. I can’t believe that we are almost there. This journey has seemed so long!
Speaking of this journey…
I have had a picture of Desta in my head. I have posted a few times about the importance the book of Isaiah has been for me during this process. On her nursery wall is the inscription, “Do not be afraid, you are mine, “paraphrased from Is. 43. When I have grown nervous or scared about her, I have pictured her held in the palm of God’s hands.
Recently Matt became reaquainted with a high school classmate, Lou Wackes. She is an amazing artist. I emailed Lou several photos of Desta as well as pictures of her nursery. I shared with her the verses God had given us for Desta. She came up with this amazing painting for Desta’s room. It is perfect.
In Lou’s words, “I hope you like how it turned out…I’m going to have a tough time parting with this one, so special! I tried to make the flower simbolic of God’s hand, like you said you’d had the vision of God holding her in the palm of His hand.”
Thank you Lou. This is such a special gift for a very special little girl!
