This time last year we were busy as little bees, getting ready for our trip to get Desta. That time seems so long ago.
As I lay in bed last night, it hit me that we still haven’t had Desta in our home for a year yet. This time last year she was so sick in her orphanage. She was waiting for us and we were desperately waiting for her.
I found a few pictures of our trip, courtesy Amber Wing (awesome photographer she is!) and have been looking at them this morning.
Remembering that time of getting our children. The sights of the city, the sounds, the smells. Matt will be back there on the 14th. I’m sentimental about this time and wishing I could be there again, to see this place where our daughter was birthed and prepared to be part of our family!

I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
