Last night was the first time Desta slept longer than a 5 hour chunk of time without getting up for something.
Of course I went and checked on her every hour. She had managed to roll on her tummy with her hands under her head, like a little angel sleeping and hanging out. I was a wreck. I was nervous she’d get caught in her blanket, she’d stop breathing. My head had a hundred thoughts running a mile a minute and I ended up every hour last night.
Isn’t that how it is? We want our children to reach these milestones SO BAD. I am desperate to have her sleep at least 5 hour stretches on a regular basis. But then when they do these things we want, we worry, we fret.
Maybe tonight we’ll both sleep like babies. Maybe?

I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
