A running friend

I’m up early again this morning, getting ready to meet Pam for a mountain run in the snow.

I’m excited to run a new trail today and even more excited to run with my friend. I’m ready for some good conversation, maybe share a recipe or two and just hang out with someone who loves running as much as I do.

For almost 9 years I prayed for a friend like Pam. I asked God for a woman who not only get me, but loved to run and enjoyed new challenges. When I met Pam two years ago when our daughters both started kindergarten together, I saw a woman who liked to run. I never anticipated how God would answer my prayer so abundantly! Pam is an amazing runner. She is 10 years older than me and about 20 years faster (but still runs at my pace!). She has traveled life longer, has an eighteen year old, fourteen year old and a seven year old, and has been married to the same man for many years. Pam is very gifted in her work and loves the kids she teaches and works with at the School for the Deaf and Blind. I have learned so much from her in this short season already!

God brought Pam into my life when I needed a friend the most.

So we keep running and in the back of my mind, I remember those years of prayer and say Thank You for answers in His time.
