Matt and I wanted to make this final weekend with our kids before our Ethiopian trip something to remember. We love to hike and found a great place at 11 Mile Lake (for those living in Colorado, it’s past Divide near Lake George).
We had perfect weather and the kids had so much fun climbing the boulders, exploring the trails and finding great rocks. Tobin was especially thrilled to be the leader. He got to pick all the paths to take, when to have lunch and where to go.
Later we took them to dinner to celebrate our family as four. We talked about what we were looking forward to when Desta comes home. We laughed, shared and had a great time.
I am very much looking forward to stepping on the plane Friday morning to bring Desta home. We all are. But we all also recognize that our family of four will never be the same. We become a family of five. It’s exciting, a bit scary thinking of the unknown and stressful at times.
Here’s to a great day of family fun, looking ahead to being a family of five and doing the same thing!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
Oh how I miss Colorado! You are so lucky to live there! My parents are heading there tomorrow for the second time this summer! They are camping near Creede! I’m so envious! Glad you had a great weekend!
