I was up in Denver yesterday. Yep, managed to get a babysitter, do the hour and half drive to Broadway as well as the 20 minute search for parking. Got inside 1700 Broadway, up the stairs, handed my packet of precious documents to be authenticated with a big smile on my face the entire time.
So, wish someone had told me that at least in the case of the state of Colorado, if you are born or married in another state (or country, in my case, Nigeria…which sends BIG red flags to the adoption government subculture) those particular documents need to be sent to their state of origin for the seal. Yep, more fed ex envelopes, more cashier’s checks and more waiting.
At least I didn’t have a day like the man in front of me. He had studied faithfully for the notary exam, filled out all his paperwork and paid his money. He was quite shocked to find out that he wasn’t able to be a Colorado notary because he was an Oregon resident. Not too happy.
So, where are we? Waiting again. All the other documents are authenticated and ready to be sent off for translation. Once we get back the rest, we can then get this dossier off. Oh, the learning I’ve done recently and the patience I continue to have to have!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
ugh! I’m so sorry that wasn’t properly explained to you
Hi- I just thought of something… were you in Denver to get your marriage certificate or authenticating? If you are authenticating did you know that ET changed their requirements a few months ago? you only have to have to authenticate the POA and the cover sheet for your dossier. Call Duni or Terra to get clarification since we submitted our dossier before the rule change. It’s much easier then it use to be…
