It's almost Thanksgiving and…

I’ve been in the doldrums lately. Here are a few pick me ups that I’ve enjoyed this week.

LL Bean slippers. LOVE THEM! My feet are so cozy and warm. Thanks Matthew!

Eggnog latte. Really can’t get better than this…even has usurped the pumpkin spice latte in my book.

Lights. oh lights. My entire house is decorated in white lights, tea lights and lamps. I love lighting!

Under Armor running shirts. These bad boys make any run in the 28 degree weather, with snow (oh…guess I’m still reliving Friday’s long run with Pam) feel like a walk on the beach…ah…kind of!

People.com Yes, I will fess up and admit that I religiously follow what the “stars” are doing. I don’t pay for the magazine anymore so get my juicy bits online. My justification is that I need to konw what is going on in the “world.” Ha!

Banana Bread. This bread is what won my hubby’s heart so many years ago. I usually keep the recipe secret but have decided to share with you all. It’s worth the 10 minutes it takes to mix and the hour to bake! I promise you!

Recipe:

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Mix together. Add:

2 eggs.

Mix really well. Until fluffy.

Add:
2 to 3 bananas (I just throw the whole banana in the mixer. It breaks up just fine.

Stop mixer and add:
2 c flour (all purpose)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
(and if you want to be healthy, add 1/4 c ground flax seed)

Put on mixer until it’s just barely mixed.

Add:
1/4 light sour cream

Again, mix for about 10 seconds, until just mixed.

Grease loaf pan (or 4 mini pans). Pour in batter. Bake at 350 for 1 hour (if in loaf pan) or 30 minutes in mini pans.

Enjoy with a steaming cup of coffee and butter on top! It just gets better with age! (This recipe freezes really well)

I have a pair of those slippers too and love them. One of the simple joys in life. :)

Melodie. I was reading a book by a famous medical anthropologist who also reads People religiously. He refers to it as “The Journal of Popular Studies” or JPS. Sounds dignified and worth reading, yes? :)
