Just a nuisance

Last night Matt and I went to Red Robin for dinner.  On the table was a cardboard cube which we were told by the hostess that everything on it was $5.99.

I ordered the fish and chips

Fast forward to the arrival of the bill.  $11.99 where $5.99 should have been.

When addressed with the waitress and manager, we were told that the cardboard insert on the cube did not count as the $5.99 special (wish I had known before ordering a $12 plate of fried fish…not really worth the $5.99 and definitely not worth the $12!).

That was it.  No acknowledgement of miscommunication, no willingness to make it right.  Nada.

Today I gathered my change for my weekly Diet Lemonade from Chik Fil A.  As I placed my order I was told the medium lemonades were free today and would I like that instead.  Of course.  When I got to the window they asked if I wanted to upgrade to a large for free.

OF COURSE.

What a a difference just a few words make.  I will be going back and back to Chik Fil A.  Red Robin.  Sorry, not going there anymore.  Wish they had at least acknowledged they had led me astray on the cardboard cube.

It seems like a simple trivial thing.  BUT it made me think about how I represent myself and my family to others.  Am I willing to make others feel at home, compliment them, be sincerely friendly or do I just brush them aside as a nuisance?

It doesn’t feel good to be treated like a nuisance!
