Milestones

Yesterday my almost seven year old lost her first tooth. She’s been working on this tooth all summer, determined to have it OUT by the start of first grade. She made her deadline by 6 days.

She is so excited about the loss of her tooth. To her, it’s another sign of independence and getting older. To this mommy, it’s another sign that she is really growing up and will soon be talking about boys, clothes and colleges.

Where does time go?

I went through my own transformation yesterday. As Caroline delighted in her new large gaped smile, I was thrown back to the day she got that first tooth. I was so excited to finally see a tooth pop through after almost 10 months of hard labor on her gum’s part! Now, that baby tooth is gone and so is that little baby.

So I’m rearranging (seems like all the time these days) my mothering from a baby to a pretty grown up little girl. Why does time have to move so darn fast?
