Dear Friends,
After two years and a few weeks, tomorrow we leave to go pick up Desta and return home.
We will try as best we can to update our blog and Twitter feeds:

This past three weeks has been a whirlwind of activity to get ready to leave for Ethiopia. Gifts, prayers, and support have poured in from around the world. We have raised all but $1,000 of our total goal.
God is good.
The last pictures and updates we received about Desta were a little less than encouraging. She’s had diarrhea and vomiting again. She has an IV in her head to keep her hydrated. (Caroline had an IV in her temple when she was born. Even so, they still are awful to see).
We are praying that this will pass at least long enough for us to get her to the U.S.
Here’s how you can join our family in prayer…
1. For the travelers–Matthew, Melodie, and Madeline (Matt’s Mom). Please pray for protection, safety, health, strength, calm, confidence, security, and boldness.
2. For the U.S. Embassy–our appointment is Wednesday at around 4-7AM Eastern Time, depending on the wait. At this appointment, we officially receive Desta’s visa after completing another small mountain of paperwork. Everything must be in the right order.
3. For the family in Colorado–Melody’s parents, Larry and Sandi, are watching after Caroline and Tobin. They are taking them to school and activities while we are away. More prayers for safety and security for the kids. And, for a special blessing as they become big brother and big sister to Desta.
4. For Desta–this little girl is almost 5 months old and has yet to reach 10 lbs in weight. Above all else, please pray for her health as we take her into our care.
We will get Desta on Tuesday of next week. Go to the Embassy for the visa on Wednesday. And then leave Ethiopia on Friday to arrive back in Colorado on Saturday.
Thank you so much. Many thanks for your love and prayers.
Matthew & Melodie
