Quick update:
We are home with Desta. Exhausted and ready to head to bed. Her fever is gone. Still being treated for salmonella.
The biggest prayer request is that we are still waiting on the results of her HIV test. The first two tests have come back positive, something we have expected as she could still be carrying antibodies from her mother. We are praying that the test tomorrow reveals a negative result. She had this test in Ethiopia (PCR), and it was negative then. We expect it will be negative this time also.
If not, we will begin down the road of having a HIV+ child. We have excellent care for that here and will take the news as it comes.
Please pray for a good night rest for all in this house! Thank you!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
