I’ve been trying to get out on the trail as many days as I can before we head to Ethiopia in 9 DAYS! (Single digits baby!)
Today I decided to put on the ipod and just run. I had it on shuffle and found myself listening to some old praise songs I usually just keep at the end of my list.
Over and over again I heard Michael W Smith sing, “Awesome God” with a live choir. WOW, listening to that in my ears while looking at the mountains, feeling the earth pound under my feet…now that is a worshipful experience!
It’s a simple phrase. “Our God is an awesome God, he reigns from heaven above, with wisdom, mercy and love, our God is an awesome God.” I think in the overuse of this phrase, the simplicity of it has been lost. As I ran, I soaked in all the amazing things God has done for our family. From the moment I walked down that long isle almost 11 years ago to today, God has been consistently there. There have been many times that I’ve felt alone, disappointed and angry at God. Yet, he continues to show his love and his favor on our family.
I look forward to taking Desta on that trail. Though when that day comes (and soon it will be here!), I’ll be singing to her instead of listening to the ipod!

I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
So glad she is doing better!! Love her room!
Hope you have a wonderful trip. Addis is awesome. Enjoy every single minute!
