Matt, my husband, is not a handy man. He would tell you that in a heartbeat. Give him a drill and he’s not a happy man. Give him a computer, now that’s another story. He can program, fix and install almost anything that deals with technology. But hanging curtain rods and fixing leaks, not really his thing.
HOWEVER! In the past few weeks, we’ve had a steady stream of house breakages. A leaky pipe in the kitchen which led to having to get an entire new kitchen floor. A vole deciding that our downstairs screen would be fun to eat through. Mice everywhere due to lovely little spaces that needed to be caulked.
This weekend was the grandaddy of all handyman projects. Four of our sprinkler heads were broken. But since we have many expenses right now due to our adoption, he took it upon himself to be the handy man, not hire one.
Girded with the computer and all it’s knowledge, along with a few trips to Home Depot, ALL our sprinklers are working. I am so proud of him. Doing this it NOT on his list of “how to spend my weekend.” So for a few dollars and A LOT of elbow grease, this computer wizard is now a handyman in my book!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
