My Science Guy

Tobin is our fact man.  He loves Wild Kratts  (on PBS) and can quote you almost any fact about any animal that’s been featured on that show.  He also LOVES space.  (We are attempting to put together a little trip to Cape Canaveral to the Kennedy Space Center before we move in June.  Despite the fact that we are no longer sending astronauts in space, we still have so much to learn!)

Each week Tobin meets with a teacher at our school for fun math and science enrichment times.  They have made and flown paper airplanes, working on wind speed and direction.  They’ve floated tin foil boats and paper clips, measuring density.  They’ve made movies about space on the Ipad.

This past week Tobin discovered these books in Mr. Metzger’s class.  They are written with a sarcastic wit while teaching piles of facts about astronomy (and the body and physics and biology and well, you get the idea).  Great pictures,  words easiest enough for a 1st grader to attempt and an adult to enjoy as well.

If your child likes facts, science or anything that answers questions, get these books.  We read several pages yesterday and frankly, I can’t wait to learn about the rest of the planets.
