We got our June update on our daughter. I love the pictures…hair all up in little buns and clips. Those two pictures showed me that she is loved and cared for by her nannies.
We also found out that she did indeed get that severe diarrhea and was very sick. Thank you again for your prayers during that time.
She is still only 7 lbs. She has not gained any weight this past month. This Mommy is really struggling with that! Why isn’t she gaining weight? What can I do here, on this side of the ocean? I feel totally and utterly helpless!
Would you pray that we will pass court next week Friday? Would you pray that our daughter will begin to gain weight? She is approaching 4 months old and only 7 lbs! That is intimidating, scary and so way beyond my control.
I was up for several hours last night, praying for her body, that Jesus would put his hands of healing on her body. I kept coming back to the Psalms. For now, I am finding that the tools in my arsenal are not doctors and medication but prayer. Would you continue to pray with us? Thank you!
Psalm 116: 7
Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
Praying for your family! I know the ache you feel. I too, have felt it. My little guy has had that gastro stuff too and it’s such a worry. He weighs at 5 months what my daughter weighed at 3 months. He has also had terrible chicken pox! You WILL pass and the time to get her will be here all of a sudden!!!!
I am sending good vibes for your court date, Melodie. Will light a candle for you.
it’s ok, it’s ok, it’s ok!!!! i know soooo many families who brought their kids home with similar weights/issues and their kids are fine. however, i’ll be praying hard. it sure wouldn’t hurt to have a meeting with you pediatrician before you go for suggestions and a feeding plan you can implement as soon as you get to Ethiopia. hang in there, friend.
Praying for your court date!!
I know your feelings but be assured there is so much that will improve quickly with good nutrition and a family. Lydia is still only 20 pounds (at 20 mos) but she is chubby and strong and healthy. She will just always be small. Make sure you doc does a sample on everything that goes into a diaper. That might eliminate some other causes for the slow weight gain.
