This has been a frustrating running week for me. I have been dealing with piriformus pain for almost 2 weeks now. I thought the problem was coming to an end after some extended sessions with a Dr. Leahy, a great sports medicine chiropractor/doctor here in town.
My 12 mile run on Saturday was cut short due to searing pain down my left side. Back to the doctors today to find out that I have several more sessions of unpleasant stretching (not the fun kind, the kind where your muscles are screaming…NO MORE) to try to fix this problem. The biggest frustration for me is that I can’t run! That is like telling a baby, sorry, no milk for you!
So I am back again on the learning to be patient and let my body heal side. Seems I revisit this place at least once a year since running longer races. I am hoping that all the things I’m supposed to do (and are doing) will bring a speedy recovery and I’ll be back on the trail ASAP.

Melodie… yoga yoga yoga yoga!!! Especially if you can find Bikram style. It is goodness and helps all the aching pains. A lot of runners praise this yoga as a help to the running so perhaps once you’re healed up it will have helped your running. Feel better. Not sure if this is similar to sciatic pain… I have that all the time and I HATE HATE HATE IT!!!
