Working has taken out a lot of my blog creative genius. Instead, my kids get that. My kids at school and my kids at home.
And right now Desta has officially entered the terrible twos about 8 months too early. And she’s a pill. A grumpy, lumpy, mess; a pill. I’m trying really hard to not be agitated by all the grumps and crying but my goodness by the end of the day I’m ready for that margarita–STRONG– no sissy margarita for me these days.
But I’m reminded when I get agitated, when I realize that I cannot possibly get everything done on my to do list, that I will not be the perfect mom, wife and teacher assistant, I remind myself that I just need to get the thing done that’s in front of me.
So that’s my goal this week. Do the thing before me to the best of my ability. We might be eating a lot of yogurt and granola around here. Family dinners might be less than the Martha Stewart homemaker versions I used to produce. Runs are fast and furious (I’m contemplating roller blading actually…looks like SO MUCH fun and there’s a breeze when you go that fast!). It’s all different. I don’t like different but different seems to be following me these days.
Onward I go.
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
