Our spring break

This Spring Break we decided to stay home.  After determining that we will be taking both of our children with us to get our baby girl, we are trying to fastidiously save for those expenses and do more things at home.  After our first blizzard and a slow week around the house, we looked up a hotel on priceline.com and announced to the kids, “We’re heading to Denver.”

Last night was spent swimming in the hotel pool and watching Sponge Bob Squarepants.  The ONLY time my children are allowed to watch that show is when away.  I don’t get the humor and cannot stomach that voice so I headed to the hotel’s gym and Matt endured a hour of the show.

Caroline attends an IB (International Bacclaurete) school.  They focus on several character qualities throughout their years.  One of the qualities that she has been particularly drawn to this year is “risk taking.”  Last night we employed the “risk taking” trait and headed to a sushi resteruant.  Caroline LOVES sushi and we take her often. Tobin, on the other hand, cannot stand the smell of the resteraunt let alone eating fish.

Last night though, was a success. We found a Japanese chicken nugget called Tonkatsu that he inhaled. Caroline devoured her entire entree, filled with shrimp, eel and California rolls.  Matt and I were in heaven sampling some new rolls that were just different enough from our favorite Colorado restaurant, Kura.

This morning we head to the Children’s Musuem.  It will be fun seeing the kids explore the land of “childhood imagination.”  I’m sure there will be silly moments of dressing up in ant costumes and making leaf inprints.

It’s good to get away.  The snow has melted and Spring looks like it’s well on its way again.  Will post pictures of my children’s backs!  smile
