Matthew took Caroline, our daughter, to their first Daddy/Daughter ball Friday night. It was so fun helping her get ready for the evening…a pretty pink dress, hair curled, purse to match. We worked on masquerade masks that morning, to wear that evening (which I found out later, were discarded in the car and replaced with ones provided for by the ball…would have been nice to know that prior to the $10 I spent on supplies!).
Matthew came out in a suit (which is a rare occasion around here) and presented Caroline with her first corsage. It was so cute. The adoring eyes, the cheeks pinked with all the attention on her! I was so excited for both of them. This is what childhood is all about. The joy of dancing with Daddy, wear a bright pink dress and staying out late dancing.
Looking at her with Matthew, I wondered again, “Where has the time gone?” Is this really the little girl who spent a week in the NICU, with tubes up her nose and oxygen mask on? How did she get so big? If 6 years goes by this fast, what will the next six bring?
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
Hi! We’re your local AWAA Associates and also live in the Springs. I’d love to touch base with you and talk more about Ethiopia.
Melodie,
Your Caroline looks so sweet in pink. I remember being in a coffee shop with my husband and a bunch of fathers and daughters came in before their dance. He’s excited to do that someday. What is your daughter’s middle name? Ours is Caroline Rose.
We’re using Bethany. So far they’ve been wonderful. There are two big ones here in Nashville, but the other wanted Caroline to be 3 before we applied! Couldn’t wait that long.
I’m looking forward to following your blog too.
