I love my subscription to Runner’s World. Every month I look expectantly in the mail for my newest copy and then immediately pour over it.
This month is no exception. I love the article, “Your Message Here” that details various slogans runners put on their shirts.
I have a few favorites I’ve used. For instance, at the Steamboat Marathon just a few months ago (was it that long ago already?), I sharpied “My other shirt is a North Face” on my awesome $2 Good Will warm up sweatshirt. I’ve contemplated writing “I run to wine.” (yes, as in the drink, not the attitude)
Here’s a few others.
“I run like a girl. Try to keep up.”
“On the seventh day God did an easy three.”
“This seemed like a good idea three months ago.” (Oh me, oh my, that is exactly what I say in the middle of every long race I run!)
Got any fun ones to add?
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
When my husband was getting ready to run the LA Marathon, I saw one at the expo that said, “In my dreams I’m Kenyan.” I wanted it even though I am not a runner, but how appropriate for a fellow “African-American” who IS a runner!
