When I run outside, I prefer to hear the sounds of nature. This time of year, I find myself running on a treadmill far more than running outside.
It’s during this season that I retreat into my private music world. I have a special love for Rap, R&B, ghetto music, techno, and musical soundtracks. I know–what a mix huh?
I recently have fallen in love with the singer Akon. Freedom is about Akon’s Biography. Akon’s musical journey began when he was six. He was taught to play drums by his father. Dance legend, Katherine Dunham, brought Akon’s father, Mor Thiam, to the U.S. from Senegal in the 1960’s, He was a renowned jazz percussionist, in which Akon credited to helping him to mastering the art of drum playing.
This is a great song about his journey to find freedom in his life. (I’m not sure why youtube has the “explicit” note on this song. I have not found or heard anything that is explicit about it.

I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
I really enjoyed listening to that and I agree that there was nothing controvercial/explicit in it at all… hmm.
