I have felt very impressed upon by my spirit to have Scripture in our children’s rooms. I think there is nothing better than God’s word over their heads as they sleep and play.
As I mentioned in this post, I have a song for each of our children that I sing every night. I’ve sung “The Blessing” to Caroline since I knew I was pregnant with her. She asked for the first line of the song to be written on her wall.
Matthew picked Tobin’s verse. He is a VERY BUSY BOY. He has a head of iron and has a hard time being still. I am hoping that this verse “Be still and know that I am God” will sing into that busy little head of his.
For our baby, I have continued to venture back into Isaiah 43. This passage has brought me hope through many hard times in life. I am especially drawn to two things in this text for our daughter.
Number one: Do not be afraid. Fear is very real. I know the fears my kids have…the night shadows, the fear of rejection with peers, the fear of the unknown.
Number two: You are mine. Identity is so important to us humans. smile We need to know who we belong to. Ultimately, I believe, we belong to God.
I want our daughter to know that God loves her so much that he desires her to have NO FEAR. He wants her to know that she is HIS!
As I painted these Scriptures, I found myself praying for my children. Praying these prayers of blessing and hope over them. They are good reminders for me during this season of waiting!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
These are beautiful Melodie! Thanks for sharing and for the great idea.
