Since Tuesday, I have been a mix of emotions. There has been great joy in seeing a new president elected for our country. I have had renewed hope. I have also been deeply saddened by the reaction of so many Christians I interact with on a daily basis.
I have not known how to react to their ranting and raving about Mr Obama’s election to the presidency. I have not wanted to have a conversation with them, or any type of interaction because of the deluge of yuck that has flown out their mouths these past few days.
I read Josh Bottomly’s blog on a regular basis. I read his blog today, three times in fact, and continue to go back to it. He wrote a letter to his Ethiopian adopted son, Silas, about the low lights and highlights of the history of our country in regard to the issue of race.
His blog post about the election and the reactions of so many hit home. I hope you take the time to read it today.
It is not about what political party we are affiliated with, or who we voted for.
Read it and share your comments.
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
i’ve read it and it was awesome! i wish i could get some of the people i thought were my friends to read it. but they have pretty much written me off now. so sad. not even sure if i can do anything more.
I thought his post was awesome too.

I also like what Jon wrote on his blog (Stuff Christians Like)
1. If your candidate lost, you have to write:
God is sovereign and will provide. He is still in control. Everything is going to be alright.
2. If your candidate won, you have to write:
God is good and has provided. He is still in control. Everything is going to be alright.
Truthfully, this whole phenomenon of Christ-followers who voted for Obama has me perplexed. The most radical pro-abortion advocate in government. He adamantly opposed the “infants born alive protection act” in the Illinois senate. This same bill passed unanimously in the US senate, after all who in their right mind would want a baby left to suffer and die without even comfort care? The answer? Barack Obama. I just don’t get it. Many have said, “but abortion is NOT the only issue”, but ones worldview concerning life flows into every single other issue out there. And Christ said whatsoever you do to the least of these you do unto me. I don’t know anyone more entitled to be called the least of these than an infant born alive and left alone to die.
That said, I definitely believe God is on the throne, and I don’t believe the world is coming to an end! As the old hymn goes…my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness!
