Thanksgiving in Dallas

Matt and I thought a road trip would be fun for our Thanksgiving holiday this year….after driving through the night (we started at 10 pm fully loaded with triple grande lattes), we pulled into Carrollton, TX at 1 pm. Whew….the road trip home was done differently….7 hours each day, a hotel with a pool in between and a wonderful romp in an extinct volcano somewhere in New Mexico.

The kids were troopers and we really enjoyed our time with Matt’s family. Matt and I continued our turkey trot tradition, waking up at 6 am on Thanksgiving morning to head out on a train and then a bus and ran with 30,000 other runners in downtown Dallas. I ran the 8 mile race and enjoyed the run, despite the neck to neck people I was among the first mile. Matt was happy to be running again (he did the 3 mile race) after being sidelined by an injury for the past three months.

We were able to go to see ICE…a series of ice sculptures on display in Dallas….and the coats given to wear in the 9 degree cold were quite stylish!

Adam and I love doing the Turkey Trot in Dallas-We do it every time we go for T-day to my sisters! Maybe one of these years we’ll all be in Dallas over T-day and can run it together! Glad the trip was good!-Rachel
