Still in Boston and still having an amazing time. I head to Washington DC tomorrow. I will miss this town. I LOVE all the cafes, the streets, the shops, the friends….all so wonderful!
Yesterday Liz and I took the Duck Boat tour. I have never done a “touristy” thing here so this was refreshing. I’ll post pictures when I get back. We sat in a boat built in World War 2 by women (now we know why so many are still working huh? ha!) and are designed to go in water and on land.
It was a fantastic tour of the history of this city. I got goosebumps when we drove by the courthouse where our Declaration of Independence was written. I saw the burial ground for many of our founding fathers. The Tobin Bridge (part of the infamous “big dig” project) is quite impressive. It was so soothing to be on the Charles River, looking at the city from a different vantage.
I reminded myself that sometimes a tour is a very good thing. I need to be less “snooty” about tourists and maybe even do one in my home town! I wonder what I’d learn if I did so?
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
