Maybe it’s because my own birthday quickly follows my oldest child. When Caroline was born, she swallowed a whole lot of amniotic fluid and ended up in the NICU for a week. I was able to first hold her on my birthday. It still is the BEST birthday gift I’ve ever been given.
Maybe it’s just because I am getting older. And realizing how quickly these birthdays are coming.
So we began Birthday weekend celebration. I really don’t enjoy putting on parties. My introverted self prefers many days of small celebrations versus one really big, all out, crazy loud, so exhausting, party.
This year is no different. And with Halloween right around the corner we begin tonight with Trunk or Treat. Followed by a 5K race – the YMCA Spooktacular – Caroline and I will be running together. The final soccer games for all children and then, breath here, family celebration at Kura, Caroline’s favorite sushi restaurant in town!
Doughnuts for the class and a homemade ice cream cake on Monday and we will have successfully celebrated another birthday.
Just in time for Halloween…speaking of that holiday…does anyone else have a hard time NOT eating all the candy your kids collect?
I read about some mom who lets her kids eat a few pieces on Halloween night and then her kids GIVE her the rest of the candy and gleefully devour homemade applesauce the next day. Hmmmm…I’d like to know who THOSE children are. I’ve yet to meet them in my reality.
Enjoy the fall and whatever comes your way!
