Matt and I signed up for the Pueblo Spring Runoff Race (10 mile) about a month ago. Hey, second day of March, potentially great weather and a new place to run…what could be better?
Fast forward to today. We woke up (after spending the entire day outdoors in the 67 degree warmth of yesterday) to wind, blowing wind and precipitation (not rain, not snow…that yucky stuff in between).
After the settling the kids in front of PBS with my sister, we headed out on our hour drive to Pueblo. We got rocked side to side the entire I-25 drive south, almost blew over getting our racing bibs and sat in the car trying to keep warm until the 9 am start.
I was seriously considering NOT running. It was a miserable morning. But my good husband said we should just run…just finish.
This race turned out to be a new 10 mile PR (personal record) for me. I loved every minute of the run, especially passing several men along the way who were wheezing up the (one) hill! I loved running into the stadium and hearing the cheers of the two race workers braving the COLD weather. It was so fun!
And I thought about our adoption throughout this run today. Getting this little girl has been a long process. I have felt the wind BLOW, the cold come down and wonder, when will it end? Will we get to the finish line? And I know that we will.
It really is about the journey, not just the destination. Run on my friends!

What sweet words- run on! A great reminder that the adoption process does have a finish.
