Today was the first day of summer (that is from school, not officially on the calendar yet). And we celebrated!
My friend and neighbor, Teresa and I took our kids plus friends to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. As always, it was a huge crowd pleaser. The kids loved the otters and gorillas and we enjoyed the hike. A sweet treat at Dairy Queen post zoo was refreshing and fun!
I love summer. I missed summer when I had graduated and was an adult, with a real job! Now I can enjoy summer again. It’s time for lazy mornings, being in the sun all day, drinks with neighbors at night while the kids run around the cul de sac. It’s vacations and little routine, it’s finishing projects that I didn’t get to during the year. It’s wearing shorts and going for a run at 6 am in a tank top (not several layers with howling wind!).
So here’s to the summer. May it also bring a dossier finished, an immigration form filled out and maybe even, dare I say, a referral for my blogger friends, The Dunns!
I was born in Jos, Nigeria many years ago. I spent the next nineteen years living in Liberia, Kenya and Ethiopia.
